Big Screen Southend

Focal Point Gallery, Southend-On-Sea, 11th Jan - 3rd March 2023

Focal Point Gallery presented a programme of artists moving image to coincide with the group exhibition ‘S for Southend 2023’.

The programme included works by Essex-based artists: Elleanna Chapman, Laura Jean Healey, Joe King and Rosie Pedlow, and David Valentine.

The works were screened daily on Big Screen Southend from the 18th of January to the 3rd of March 2023.

Big Screen Southend is a purpose-built display screen which opened in 2013 for the presentation of artist commissions, live transmissions, and short and feature films relative to the cultural context of Southend, South Essex and further afield. A quarterly programme of curated or newly commissioned artist moving image are screened daily in the public setting of Elmer Square, adjacent to Focal Point Gallery.

Laura Jean Healey exhibited her award winning performance film series The (Un)Holy Trinity as part of FPG’s Big Screen Southend January 2023 programme.
